Faculty: PROFESSOR THEO BOTHMAD
Professor Theo Bothmad is professor and head of the Department of Information Science at the University of Pretoria in South Africa. He joined the University in 1991 and became head of department in October 1995. His teaching and research focus on hypermedia and multimedia, the Web and electronic publishing, and cross-language information retrieval, as well as on curriculum development.
Professor Bothma is the author and co-author of a number of publications and has presented numerous papers at local and international conferences. He has chaired a number of local conferences and has been a member of the program or organizing committees of various local and international conferences. He is an advisory editor of Libri and a member of the editorial boards of SAJLIS and Online Information Review.
Professor Bothma is a member of the ACM, LIASA, CSSA, CHI-SA, as well as the IFLA Standing Committee for Knowledge Management (of which he is the information coordinator / web manager). He is involved in organizing the IFLA preconference on Knowledge Management to be held in Durban, South Africa in August 2007. He regularly consults on web development and electronic publishing.
