Faculty: DR. ABDUS SATTAR CHAUDHRY

Dr. Abudus Sattar Chaudrhy is Head of the Division of Information Studies (DIS) at the School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore.  DIS offers Master’s degrees in three areas: Information Studies, Information Systems, and Knowledge Management. 

Before joining NTU in 1996, Dr. Chaudhry held academic and professional positions in different types of information institutions in the USA, Pakistan, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia.  He holds a Master’s degree from the University of Hawaii and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  He teaches in the areas of knowledge organization and management, and management of information organizations.  His current research focuses on metadata and taxonomies, performance measurement, and LIS and KM education.

Dr. Chaudhry has served as a consultant in curriculum design and evaluation of LIS programs in Kuwait, Pakistan, Malaysia, and Singapore.  The co-author of four books on library and information services, Dr. Chaudhry has contributed articles and conference papers in the areas of organization and management of information and knowledge, performance measures for the digital environment, and training and education of information and knowledge professionals.
